The Liga Portugal met with the clubs to discuss the Government’s proposal aimed at resolving issues arising from the abolition of the “expression of interest” in hiring foreign players from outside the EU. The Liga expressed deep concern about the negative impact of the new immigration legislation on the transfer market and stated that the Government’s proposal does not adequately address this impact. The organization highlighted the urgent need to find a solution that does not compromise the speed of hiring players. The abolition of the “expression of interest” requires that employment contracts depend on visas and residence permits, making the process more time-consuming and complex.
