Prime Minister Luís Montenegro stated that higher education is the “best entry point” for successful immigration in Portugal, emphasizing the importance of leveraging foreign talent for a more competitive economy. During the inauguration of the expansion of the Alentejo Science and Technology Park (PACT) in Évora, Montenegro highlighted that projects like this help retain and attract talent, both Portuguese and foreign. He stressed the need for qualified immigration to fill demographic gaps and strengthen the country’s human capital. Montenegro also mentioned that the success of higher education institutions and technology parks, like PACT, is crucial for innovation, job creation, and competitive salaries. He avoided commenting on the recently approved anti-corruption agenda, stating that there will be other opportunities to discuss the topic.
